Ingredients
725 g lean braising beef, cubed
1 tbsp SIDS HOT WORCESTER SAUCE
4 tbsp plain flour
350 g shallots, peeled
2 bay leaves
2 garlic cloves
Thyme sprigs
500 g shortcrust pastry
500 g Guinness
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp water
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp tomato purée
SIDS SALT & PEPPER to taste
Directions
Add flour and SIDS SALT & PEPPER to a medium-sized bowl. Marinate beef in SIDS HOT WORCESTER SAUCE for 15 minutes.
Pan-fry the beef until it’s golden brown. Pour tomato purée into this pan and cook it for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
Add Guinness, shallots, thyme, bay leaves, and garlic to the pan. Sprinkle SIDS SALT & PEPPER over it and stir.
Cover the pan and cook for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 200°C.
Add this meat, without the bay, to a pie dish. Roll the pastry and cover the pie with the pastry. Brush the pie crust with egg and bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes.
