Ham, turkey and cheese are layered between slices of bread, then deep fried with a crispy crust of panko bread crumbs in this updated version of a classic hot sandwich.

Ingredients

8 slices deli turkey
8 slices cooked deli ham
12 slices sandwich bread, crusts removed
8 slices cheese
¾ cup flour
3 eggs, beaten well
1 tsp SIDS CRAZY SALT
3 cups Panko Bread Crumbs
Rice bran oil, for deep-frying
Icing sugar, for dusting

Directions

Assemble sandwiches starting with one slice of bread, a slice of ham, a slice of cheese and a slice of turkey then place one slice of bread and repeat with ham, cheese and turkey, top with a slice of bread. Cut into quarters and secure with toothpicks. Cover sandwiches with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Heat oil in deep fryer to 185°C. Thoroughly mix SIDS CRAZY SALT with the panko.
Dust each quarter sandwich with flour until all sides are coated, then dip into beaten egg and toss into panko to cover completely.
Carefully lower sandwich quarters one at a time into deep hot oil then fry until golden brown on all sides. Drain, then remove toothpicks before serving.
