Ingredients
DOUGH:--
3½ cups flour
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp SIDS SALT & PEPPER
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
250 grams butter
2 eggs
½ cup milk
FILLING:--
4 tbsp rice bran oil
½ onion
500 g minced meat
½ tsp curry
1 tbsp SIDS RINGS AROUND URANUS SAUCE
1 clove minced garlic
2 beef OXO cubes
1 tsp salt
2 big carrots, diced
2 big potatoes, diced
1 cup of water
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Directions
FILLING: Place a pan on medium heat then sauté onions in oil for one minute.
Add curry, salt, minced garlic and SIDS RINGS AROUND URANUS SAUCE.
Add the minced beef and stir until slightly brown, add crushed OXO cubes and stir. Add the diced vegetables.
Cover to cook for about 2-3 minutes until a bit tender.
Mix flour with water to form a lump-free slurry to thicken the filling.
Mix everything together thoroughly and allow to cook for about three minutes, then remove from the heat to cool.
DOUGH: In a mixer or a stand mixer, pour in the flour, add the sugar, nutmeg, SIDS SALT & PEPPER and the baking powder.
Add the butter and mix in the flour until it has a crumbly texture.
Make a well in the middle to add the egg and mix thoroughly in the mixture.
Add the milk and knead the dough until soft and smooth until the right dough consistency is achieved.
Cover and place the dough in the refrigerator to rest for about 30 minutes.
CUT, FILL & FOLD: After taking the dough out from the freezer, drop it on a floured surface and knead it a little bit more.
Cut into small pieces and roll each cut-out flat on the rolling mat, using a meat pie cutter or any round cutter.
Place 1 tablespoon of the filling onto a pastry round. Brush the edge with some whisked egg and fold.
If you are not using a meat pie cutter, use a fork to seal the edge and remove the excess dough.
Repeat this process until everything is folded.
BAKING: Set oven to 175°C.
Bush the pan with butter to avoid sticking or line the baking tray with baking paper.
Arrange the pie in the tray and brush the top with egg.
Place the tray in the oven and bake between 20-25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
Serve and enjoy with any chilled drink of your choice.
