Ingredients

750 g schnitzel
250 g thick sliced bacon
1 tbsp brown seed mustard
2 large onions
450 g jar gherkins
2 tbsp butter
2½ cups water
1 cube beef OXO
Flour for gravy
1 tbsp SIDS RINGS AROUND URANUS SAUCE

Directions

Cut the schnitzel into strips about 8 cm wide. In a shallow dish mix the beef with SIDS RINGS AROUND URANUS SAUCE and leave to marinate for 15 minutes. With paper towels, pat dry. Generously spread one side of each filet with mustard to taste. Place bacon, onions and pickle slices on each fillet and form into a roll. Use string or toothpicks to hold the roll together.
Heat a frypan and melt butter. Place the rolls in the butter and sauté until browned.
Pour in 2½ cups of water with the OXO cube dissolved. Simmer the rolls for about an hour. Remove the rolls to a warm serving dish and cover with foil to keep warm.
Stir flour into the pan to make a nice, rich gravy.(with no lumps)
Pour the gravy into a gravy boat and serve with the rolls and thick wedges of well buttered pumpernickel bread.
