Ingredients
2 cups flour
½ tsp SIDS CRAZY SALT
2 tbsp butter
¼ cup water (about)
Rice bran oil for deep frying
FILLING:--
400 g lamb or beef mince
2 tbsp butter
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 green chilli, chopped
1 tbsp fresh ginger root, minced
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp chilli powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsp garam masala
1½ tsp fresh lemon juice
Directions
In a medium bowl, mix SIDS CRAZY SALT, flour and butter until crumbly. Pour in water to make a smooth dough and pat into a ball. Place on a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Return to the bowl, cover and set aside.
Heat oil in a deep fryer to 190°C.
Melt butter in a medium pan on high and fry off onion, garlic, chilli and ginger until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Stir in turmeric, chilli powder, mince and salt. Cook 10 minutes until meat is evenly brown with no lumps. Stir in garam masala and lemon juice. Cook further 5 minutes then remove from heat.
Divide dough into 15 equal portions and roll into balls then flatten into 10 cm circles. Cut each circle in half, dampen edges and form into cones. Fill with equal portions of meat mixture, dampen top and bottom edges, then pinch to seal.
Carefully lower into oil, a few at a time, and cook 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
